About Us

The First Family says "yes" to God by loving people where they are and inviting them to follow Christ with passion.

FBC as a church family and as individuals are on mission with God. We respond with obedience to God's call to join His work.

Both as individuals and as a church, we love where they are. We might not agree with where they are, we might be uncomfortable with where they are, but we will show them an unconditional love. That means loving those in the church who struggle, loving those in our community who might be difficult to love, and loving people where they are in other countries.

The purpose of loving others is to invite them to follow Christ with passion. Our goal is to make disciples. We can't make anyone become a disciple, but with our words and actions we can encourage them to follow Christ. To follow with passion means that discipleship means that discipleship is not just one day a week but something that is 24/7; we give our life to it.

FAQs

We have about 900 people that come at least once a month to the church for worship or Bible study. On an average there are around 650 each Sunday.

We support many mission works. We are in the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist General Convention of Texas and support many mission causes through these commitments. We also give specific support to mission work in west Africa, Ethiopia, Zambia, Brazil, and Mexico. This past summer we sent sent teams to Rio de Janeiro, Ethiopia, Matamoras, Mexico, New Orleans, and Santa Fe. Members of the church also go on mission trips to other areas around the world. Missions at First Baptist is not just a program; it is central to what we do. And all these mission works are beyond Corisicana. We are also very involved in various missions and ministries in our county.

We have a Hispanic congregation in our church. This provides worship and Bible study in Spanish. This is not a "mission" but a congregation in the church. The Hispanic community is a growing part of the community and in the church. Corsicana also has a large african-american community and many churches who serve that segment of our population. First Baptist has a small number of african-american members.
